Super-barrier substrate for organic electronics
Organic electronic devices have enormous functional advantage over their existing counterparts.
Organic light emitting diode displays (OLEDs), unlike LCDs, are so bright and have so high contrast ratio that can be watched in direct sunlight at unlimited viewing angle. They display images of amazingly high quality. They are flat, very thin and extremely fast, thus being video/HD/gaming compatible.
Organic photovoltaic (OPV) devices, which convert light into electricity, are potentially very economical.
The full potential of OLEDs, OPVs and other organic electronic devices will be revealed when they will be flexible, thus being light, unbreakable and inexpensive. The cost of organic electronic devices is potentially lower than current technologies since they will be produced by roll-to-roll processing using ink jet printing, stamping and transfer techniques instead of costly microelectronic processing. Organic electronic devices are sensitive to water and oxygen, for that reason they are sandwiched between glass plates and metal cans with desiccants
Our approach
To achieve required lifetime of organic flexible devices, transparent plastic substrates, which are impermeable to water and oxygen are needed. Nova-Plasma is developing a new technology in encapsulating organic electronic devices: Defect-Free Ultra-High permeation barrier substrates. Our technology will enable roll-to-roll production of flexible organic electronics: OLED displays, organic solar cells, sensors, RF ID tags, etc. Roll-to-roll continuous manufacturing will allow to cut down production costs of printable organic electronics to win a dominant position in the market.
Applications
Nova-Plasma’s super-barrier material have many different applications,
from which we can cite:
OLED Displays,
Photovoltaic devices,
Organic Electronic devices, Sensors
Flexible LCD displays
Electrophoretic displays,
Etc.
