Water-repellent, fully hydrophobic melamine foam.

Melamine foam is strongly hydrophilic. For most applications, however, wettability of the foam, and water absorption are detrimental.

For example, applications in architectural panels, airplane, automotive, and rail vehicles, soundproofing, etc., require water-repellent (strongly hydrophobic) properties.

At Nova-Plasma Inc., we have developed a treatment of melamine resin foam that makes it permanently hydrophobic.

Both the SURFACE and the BULK become water-repellent. This new property is not affected by cutting, forced soaking, squeezing, washing etc.
